More apartments are coming to downtown Vicksburg.
The old Greyhound bus station at 1403 Walnut Street will be transformed into The Station with four upscale apartments expected to be ready in August. Each of the units will have one bedroom and one bathroom.
Three of the units will be between 440 and 500 square feet, and the fourth unit will be just less than 300 square feet.
“They are going to be unique in that each one is going to have a sizeable courtyard and covered parking,” John Duett, who is a co-owner of the property, said. “The courtyard will be anywhere from 200 to 300 square feet with stained concrete and landscaping.”
The courtyards will be surrounded by a 7-foot high wooden wall to provide residents privacy in their outdoor space.
Duett said they purchased the building in the fall and began work on the units the first week of May. So far they have finished the plumbing and electric work and the next step is framing the individual units.
“We feel this is a need and a trend with people living and walking to their job on Washington Street,” Duett said.
The plans show the front two apartments having interior entrances off the main atrium and the entrances to the other two units being placed at the end of the interior hallway, which leads to covered parking at the back of the building.
Duett said they will be upscale apartments with granite counters in the kitchen. They will be leased at around $1,200 a month with utilities includes, and a furnished apartment is available if needed.
