LAKELAND, Fla. — Mississippi College won two elimination games Monday at the rain-soaked NCAA Division II South Regional, beating Albany State and Nova Southeastern to stay alive.
The Choctaws (35-16) beat Albany State 6-3 in their first game of the day. The contest was originally scheduled for Friday and then postponed by rain and poor field conditions for three days.
The Choctaws then turned around and beat Nova Southeastern 5-3. Billy Cameron hit an RBI double, while Blaine Crim hit a two-run home run and scored twice.
Hunter Mullis (7-3) allowed two runs, on seven hits and two walks, in 7 1/3 innings. He struck out four.
Mississippi College will face either Montevallo or Delta State on Tuesday. A game time has not yet been set. Montevallo and Delta State will play an elimination game Tuesday at noon.
Delta State fell into the losers’ bracket on Monday with a 3-0 loss to Tampa. The Spartans scored all of their runs in the second inning, on a two-run single by Richie Rivera and an RBI double by Nick DeTringo.
