In 2014, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs reported that 219,000 military veterans resided in Mississippi. According to AARP Mississippi State Director Kimberly L. Campbell, the goal of AARP Mississippi and the town hall event is to bring together veterans of all eras to learn more about resources available to them, as well as have their questions answered.

“With nearly 6 million AARP members who are military veterans, AARP is committed to aiding them in the transition from successful military life to effective civilian life,” Campbell said. “AARP is working to become a go-to source for help and information for veterans and their families.

“We salute and honor everyone who has served our great country,” Campbell added. “Whether it’s advocating on Capitol Hill or providing caregiving resources, we’re helping veterans face their unique challenges so they can discover their real possibilities.”

The event, which includes lunch, is free and veterans may bring one guest. But they must RSVP by calling 1-877-926-8300.
