Culkin Water District has issued a boil water notice for all customers who get their drinking water from Lake Forest Drive, Manchester Drive, Cobblestone Drive, Emerald Way, Granite Way, Onyx Crossing, Hunters Crest Circle and Andover Circle.

This alert will affect more than 224 households.

Kadie Hearn, spokesperson for Culkin Water District, said this precautionary action was necessary because the water system lost pressure due to a break in the water line.

“When a water distribution system loses pressure, contaminants can siphon back into the system,” Hearn said. “Public health officials consider any system that has los pressure contaminated until tests of the water prove otherwise.”

Hearn said that as soon as pressure is restored to those customers affected, water system officials will begin collecting samples for testing and recommend that consumers vigorously boil their water for two minutes before it is consumed or use an alternate source for drinking and cooking.
