Funeral services for James Ronald Simon will be Sunday, June 17, at noon at the chapel of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnnie Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

James R. Simon Sr. passed away Wednesday, June 6, at Merit Health River Region following a lengthy illness. He was 64. He had worked for Hinds County and was a member of the St. Paul M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Simon and Rose Ella Willis.

He is survived by his wife, Myra Mims Simon of Vicksburg; his four sons, James Simon Jr., Anthony Simon, both of Utica, Thadious Henderson, James Henderson Sr. and Fredrick Henderson, all of Vicksburg; his eight daughters, Cassandra Henderson, Belinda Davenport, both of Vicksburg, Jessica Blockman and Darlinda Roach, both of Utica, Pamela Linzy of Fla., Venita Carr of Charlotte, N.C., Almetha Wilson and Chandra Price, both of Vicksburg; his brothers, Robert Simmons and Darryl Simmons, both of Jackson; and his sisters, Linda Henderson and Patricia White, both of Jackson; 30 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
