NEW ORLEANS — Sherrill Herring Benjamin died peacefully at home on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at the age of 81. She was born in Vicksburg on Sept. 30, 1936.

Mrs. Benjamin is survived by her beloved husband E.V. Benjamin III (“Tony”), daughter Fifi Laughlin (Sean); sons E.V. Benjamin IV (Margie) and Peter Sevier Benjamin; sisters Helen Sturgis and Ginger Tanner; grandchildren E.V. Benjamin V, Sean Laughlin, Peter Laughlin, Isabelle Benjamin, Lucy Benjamin and Ella Benjamin.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. and Mrs. Preston Street Herring.

Mrs. Benjamin graduated from Newcomb College in 1958. She was a parishioner of Trinity Episcopal Church. Mrs. Benjamin was a member of the Junior League of New Orleans. She especially loved horses, cooking, all things French and taking care of her family.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Catina Newsham, Brianna Martin, Sheila Brooks, Demetrice Kennedy, Lakita McCadney and Rochelle Smith for their loving care through the years. Special thanks to the Eucharistic Visitors from Trinity Episcopal Church.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018, at noon at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1329 Jackson Ave., New Orleans, LA 70130. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Trinity Episcopal Church or the charity of choice.
