A new Mexican restaurant is coming to town. El Paso Mexican Grill is opening at 3419 Pemberton Square Blvd., with owner Ruben Chavez saying he expects it to be operating around July 10.
The chain, which started in Louisiana and has expanded to Florida, chose Vicksburg to be their first restaurant in Mississippi, with plans to add more in the Magnolia State in the future.
The Vicksburg location will be the 27th restaurant in the chain, with Chavez saying it was just the right opportunity.
“They put a place for sale, and I opened one in Monroe, Louisiana, four months ago and it’s close enough to me to open another one in Vicksburg,” Chavez said.
Chavez described the restaurant as “Tex-Mex,” listing fajitas, chimichangas, tacos and burritos as some of their signature items.
The menu will also offer chicken wings, vegetarian options and even Mexican seafood options.
The menu also lists their quesadillas as their house favorite and their burrito asada as a favorite in Mexico.
One of the things El Paso is best known for, however, is their drinks.
“We have a full bar with like 26 flavors of Margaritas,” Chavez said.
El Paso is currently in the process of hiring their staff.
