A Vicksburg teenager remains in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond accused of shooting a man Tuesday.
Isaiah Jamal Lashun Smith, 16, 223 First Ave., was arrested about 3:03 p.m. Friday and charged as an adult with attempted murder in the shooting of Michael Lamonte Sorrells, 20. No motive has been determined for the shooting.
Municipal Judge Toni Terrett set the bond for Smith at an initial appearance Friday afternoon. His case is expected to be heard by the next Warren County grand jury.
Vicksburg police Lt. Johnnie Edwards said police are looking for three other people who face misdemeanor charges in the shooting.
Smith is accused of shooting at Sorrells and wounding him in the shoulder as he was sitting in his 1999 Toyota Camry with three other people in the 200 block of Meadowvale Drive about 5:02 p.m. Tuesday. The other people in the car were not wounded.
Sorrells was taken to Merit Health River Region by ambulance and later flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he was in stable condition, police said.
Edwards said bullets fired at the car also struck a nearby house, adding the residents in the home reported finding the bullet hole about 7:21 p.m. Tuesday.
The case remains under investigation.
