Two men were killed early Sunday morning when the car they were in was hit by another car on Warrenton Road about 2:55 a.m. and burst into flames.
Jared Develle Brinner, 30, 2501 Culkin Road, and Ron Lydell Hedrick, 32, 102 McGraw St., Pattison, were killed when a 2007 Lincoln MLT pickup driven by Deon Jamaal Hatten, 26, 2909 Booker St. Jackson, collided with their car in the 300 block of Warrenton Road near USA Pawn.
The car the men were in was engulfed in flames when police arrived, Vicksburg police Lt. Johnnie Edwards said.
Binner and Hedrick were declared dead at the scene by Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey.
Hatten, who reportedly carjacked the pickup from Riverwalk Casino, was injured in the crash and taken to Merit Health River Region. He was later transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he was listed in critical condition.
He will face charges of carjacking and two counts of vehicular manslaughter upon his release, and the case will be presented to the next Warren County grand jury, Edwards said.
Hatten is accused of pulling a woman out of her vehicle at Riverwalk Casino and taking her 2007 blue Lincoln MLT pickup and leaving the casino parking area at high rate of speed, according to police reports.
