Tony Glenn Moffett

On Aug. 18, 2018, while resting at home with his family, Tony Glenn Moffett entered his heavenly home. Tony was 67 years old. He was born July 23, 1951, in Durant, Mississippi, to Guy and Lois Moffett. He was one of four children: two sisters, Carolyn Moffett Brewer and Christine Moffett Porter; and one brother, Kim Moffett.
Tony’s most treasured part of life was his family. Married for 50 years, Tony is survived by his wife and childhood sweetheart, Sarah Moffett; four children, Penny and Wayne Bethany, John Moffett, Melissa and Scott Ellis, and Marsha and John Harrigill; 13 grandchildren, Taylor Harrigill, Conner Harrigill, Landen Ellis, Haley Ellis, Katherine Bumgardner, Clara Grace Moffett, Mary Elizabeth Moffett, Tony Moffett, Emily Schreiber, Ryan Hoxie, Sarah Elizabeth Hoxie, Austin Bethany and Caleb Bethany; four great grandchildren, Everlee Haies McBroom, Ellian Rhae McBroom, Finley Kait Bumgardener and Dawsyn Malone; one brother, Kim Moffett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Guy Moffett; mother, Lois Moffett; sister, Carolyn Brewer; sister, Christine Porter; granddaughter, Gabrielle Hoxie; grandson, Nathaniel Ellis.
Prior to an 11-year heroic fight against declining health, Tony was a member of Goodrum Baptist Church and an active community member and business owner. In the construction industry, Tony built homes and refurbished homes for families of Vicksburg. He also had a gift of crafting custom cabinetry and furniture. Throughout all the years he served the Vicksburg community, Tony was well respected for his generous, honest care for his customers, business associates, and vendors. Although he had a few nicknames among friends, his most cherished names were Daddy, Dad, and Papaw.
Services for Tony Moffett will be held at Riles Funeral Home in Vicksburg. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018. Services will begin at 1 p.m. at Riles Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery in Vicksburg.
Pallbearers will be John Harrigill, Scott Ellis, Wayne Bethany, Ernest Woodward, Jason Gordon and Bill Hoxie
