WINNSBORO, La. (AP) — Louisiana State Police say a garbage truck pulled onto a state highway and hit a pickup truck, killing the driver of the smaller truck.

A news release says 42-year-old Labraca Roberts of Winnsboro died at the scene Thursday morning.

The accident occurred about 6:30 a.m. near Winnsboro, at the intersection of Louisiana highways 4 and 865.

Trooper Michael Reichardt said in an email that troopers cited the garbage truck’s driver, 40-year-old Tina Vaughn of Monroe, for going through a stop sign.

Reichardt says the investigation is continuing.
