Margarette Christine Swett

Margarette Christine Swett, 91, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, in Vicksburg. She was born in Yazoo City and was the daughter of of Lee Ondress McGibboney and Bessie May Walker McGibboney. Margarette graduated from Hollandale High School in 1946. She attended nurses training at Vicksburg Hospital and graduated as a registered nurse in 1949. She was operating supervisor at Vicksburg Hospital for 20 years.
She married Bryan Howard Swett, Jr. in 1949. Margarette was the first Warren County School nurse and retired from the Vicksburg Warren School District with 18 years of service. She was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church and participated in the ECW and Altar Guild. Margarette was a member of the Vicksburg Jaycettes and a cast member of “Gold In The Hills”.
In addition to her parents, Margarette was preceded in death by her husband and her siblings, Idalia Jones, Sadie Hardy, Ruby Hooke, Frances Speaks and John McGibboney. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Swett Gerhardt; her granddaughter, Lindsey Lee Gerhardt and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Billie Abraham officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John McGibboney, Jay Ratliff, Bill Farrior, Sr., Bill Farrior, Jr., Todd Richter and Joe Leist. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Leist, Andrew Swett, Hunter Farrior, Chase Farrior, James Richter, Mack Richter, Sonny Farrior and Brian Carmichael.
