Henry James Mitchell

Funeral services for Henry James Mitchell are to be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Spring Hill M. B. Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Warren officiating; interment shall follow under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Henry James Mitchell passed away on Friday, Oct. 26, in the G.V. Sonny Montgomery Veterans Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was 81.   

He was retired having worked as a juvenile corrections officer in New York. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a faithful member of the Vicksburg Homecoming Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Mitchel Sr., and Lizzie Brown Edwards; his stepmother, Virgie Mitchell; and his brothers, Eugene Mitchell and James Mitchell Jr.

He is survived by his daughter Wanda Kay Hindsman of Atlanta, Georgia; his six brothers, Willie James Mitchell, Jerry Mitchell, and David Mitchell, all of Utica, J. B. Edwards, Peryear Mitchell, and Clifton Mitchell, all of Vicksburg; his seven sisters, Ronetta Miller, Rosie Edwards, both of St Louis, Missouri, Liza Barnes, Mary Mitchell and Clara Mitchell, all of Vicksburg, Jannie Tillman of Utica, and Gladys Peterson of Clinton; and two grandchildren.
