Talmadge Steed passed into glory, in peace, on Nov. 23, 2018, at the age of 83. Talmadge was born in Cleveland, Mississippi, on Feb. 8, 1935, to the late Monroe and Molly Steed. He had (16) treasured brothers and sisters. He will always be remembered by his cherished wife of 61 years, Dossy Youngblood Steed, his two daughters and their spouses, Deborah and Frank Patton, Melissa Orgeron and Sammy Purvis and with his most beloved grandsons, John Sanderson and Scott Patton, as well as his great grandson, John Patton. Talmadge took extreme pride in all of his nieces and nephews, which are many.
Talmadge Steed was a man of few words; he loved God, family, friends and country. He retired from Marathon Letourneau after many long years of dedicated service where he made everlasting friendships. He would wish that you spend time with your children, be with your loved ones and appreciate enduring friendships, lifelong and beyond. He lived for his family, and his family lived for him.
Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home on Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral services will start at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bryan Abel and the Rev. Jack Demoney officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery in Vicksburg. Pallbearers will be his beloved nephews with honorary pallbearers being his nieces.
The family would like to thank Hospice Ministries and Covenant Caregivers for the unwavering support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rice Road Baptist Church, 82 Old Rice Road, Madison, MS and Grace Baptist Church, 1729 Hankinston Rd., Vicksburg, MS.
