‘Bundle Up the Burg’ seeking donations

For at least the last decade, Vicksburg radio stations River 101.3, KHits 104.5 and Touch 92.7 have been hosting a “Coats for Kids” clothing drive during the winter months, but this year, decided to do something a little different this time of year.
Called “Bundle Up the Burg,” the radio group has teamed up with the city of Vicksburg and George Carr Buick Cadillac GMC to provide not only coats for kids, but also scarves, blankets, gloves, hats and other cold weather clothing and items to keep those in need warm this winter.
“We decided to change it up,” station manager Sabrina Lynn said.
Lynn and account executive Missy Maranto came up with the idea of expanding the clothing drive to not only children in need, but also adults, and partnered with Vicksburg officials and the George Carr dealership to place donation boxes at the city annex building and the car dealership. There are also donation boxes at the radio stations.
“We’ve been doing this for several years and decided to do something a little different,” Lynn said. “The deadline is Dec. 27, but we will take donations after that date also. People will be cleaning out their closets after Christmas, so we won’t be real strict on the deadline.”
Once the donations are collected Lynn said the items will be separated and then given to the various local charities “that serve families daily.”
