Ameristar Casino marks major milestone

Ameristar Casino Hotel’s month-long silver anniversary celebration culminated Wednesday with a special proclamation and ribbon cutting ceremony.
Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr., thanked Ameristar for their commitment over the last 25 years in Vicksburg with a special proclamation.
Guests with mychoice cards were also treated to a free buffet from 4-8 p.m.
The casino property, which opened its doors on Feb. 27, 1994, began the month with special concerts from Tone Loc, Color Me Badd, and the band Fuel. Throughout the month, Ameristar has been conducting special events, including a Million Dollar Giveaway, to commemorate the 25th anniversary.
“This anniversary is monumental and we want our guests, team members and the community to celebrate with us,” Gerad Hardy, Ameristar general manager, said.
Over the last 25 years Ameristar has positively impacted the economy of Warren County and Mississippi by contributing more than $900 million in payroll/benefits, taxes and philanthropy. With more than 600 team members, Ameristar is a major employer in the city of Vicksburg.
And the casino continues to reinvest in its facility with enhancements such as the casino expansion and parking garage, adding additional dining outlets and entertainment venues, upgrading the Heritage Buffet and creating The End Zone Sports Book.
