Hinds basketball camps
The Hinds Community College men’s basketball program is set to host two youth camps in June.
The Hinds CC Youth Camp will take place on June 12 in J.D. Boyd Gymnasium on the Utica campus, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 5-13. There is a $30 registration fee and lunch will be provided.

The Hinds CC Team Camp is June 19 on the Utica campus. This is an elite event that will feature teams from all over Mississippi. Teams will play at least two games per session.
The cost of this camp is $200 per team. Officials and training staff will be on site and lunch will be provided for each team.

All players must bring proof of a current physical with them.

VWSD Hall of Fame
Nominations are being accepted for the Vicksburg Warren School District Athletic Hall of Fame’s Class of 2019. Nomination forms are available at the VWSD athletic office on Mission 66 or by emailing athletic director Preston Nailor at pnailor@vwsd.org. The deadline is June 1.

The Hall of Fame is for all athletes, coaches and administrators who have distinguished themselves in their sports while a student or contributor at Vicksburg or Warren Central High Schools. The Class of 2019 will be inducted in a ceremony in August.

Football camp at MC
Mississippi College will host a USA Football FUNdamentals clinic for children ages 6-14 on June 8. The camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and is free.

The one-day clinic is designed to introduce children to football by teaching basic skills in a fun and energetic environment, and is supported through a grant from the NFL Foundation. All drills are non-contact.

USM basketball camp
The Joye Lee-McNelis summer youth basketball camps will be held in June and August at Southern Miss’ Reed Green Coliseum in Hattiesburg.

There are different camps for different ages and skill levels, and many are open to both girls and boys.

The options include the Fundamental Shooting Stars Camp for ages 4-11; Developmental Skills Academy for girls ages 12 and up; Post Skills Enhancement Academy for rising ninth graders and up; Next Level Skills Academy I and II for high school junior varsity, varsity and club players; the Middle School Team Shootout for junior high, middle school and club teams; and, finally, the High School Team Shootout for junior varsity, varsity or club teams.
