Barbara Wall Alonzo passed away Thursday July 25, 2019.
Barbara was born Sept. 14, 1929 in Mobile, Ala., to John Thomas and Avanelle Wall, a lady of pure grace.
Barbara was a lifelong Catholic and a member of St. Richard Catholic Church. She was a proud graduate of Bishop Toolen Catholic High School for girls.
Barbara found her passion when she began selling real estate in the 1970s. She was a successful Real Estate broker for over 30 years in Vicksburg and Madison. Her sharp mind and strong work ethic made her a favorite of her clients and she won many awards through the years for her sales abilities.
Barbara devoted her life to raising her nine children. She was a strong and loving mother who worked hard to make sure her children’s needs were met. They were her greatest accomplishment and she took extreme pride in all their achievements. Her greatest happiness came from being with her children and grandchildren.
She also enjoyed reading, dancing and listening to “Elvis” music.
She is survived by her nine children, Lisa McFatter (Melvin), John Alonzo, Angie Wright (Ronnie), Terry Alonzo (Pam), Phillip Alonzo (Anne Christine), Tommy Alonzo (Janet, Melanie Costas (Theo), Chris Alonzo (Yolanda) and Mary Nell Newman (Richard); 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her three sisters, Jeanne Nash of Mobile, Ala., Sara Smith of Citronelle, Ala., and Tommie Werneth of Orange Beach, Ala., who had a strong, loving bond all of these years.
Barbara was preceded in death by her former husband and the father of her children, John Donald Alonzo.
She was a resident of Ridgeland.
A quote from a dear family friend that sums up our Mother. She was an amazing person and a role model for all mothers. She put her wants and needs aside. No other word except “amazing!”
The family will receive friends from 4-6pm Tuesday July 30, 2019 at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland followed by a prayer service. There will be a private Mass of Christian Burial Friday August 2, 2019 in Mobile, Ala.
Memorials may be made to St. Richard Catholic Church, PO Box 16547, Jackson, MS 39236.
