Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Sanders

Elizabeth “Liz” Sanders was born Feb. 22, 1929, in Flowers to the late Fred Douglas Sanders and Louisia Sanders.
At an early age, she was baptized at Brookhaven Baptist Church and for many years she was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church of Vicksburg.
Ms. Sanders attended Brookhaven Elementary School, where she graduated with honors. She furthered her education at Southern Christian Institute (SCI) from 1947-1952.
After completing her education at SCI, she entered into the field of cosmetology and attended beauty school under the instruction of Ms. Lydia Townsend.
After completing cosmetology and becoming a licensed cosmetologist, she began her cosmetology career at Turner’s Beauty Shop on Washington Street in Vicksburg, where she worked from 1957-1970.
In 1970 Ms. Sanders established a beauty salon, “The Down Town Beauty Circle” located on Clay Street in Vicksburg. Ms. Sanders later owned and operated Milady’s School of Cosmetology, where she was an instructor for many years.
She departed this life Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at Merit Health River Region in Vicksburg.
She leaves her legacy to her beloved children, Gladys Hubbard, Marshall E. Sanders, and Patricia S. Brown, all of Vicksburg; brother/cousin, Tommy Tribble of Vicksburg; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of her life will be noon Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019 at the Vicksburg City Auditorium with the Rev. Kemp Burley officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home from 1 to 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
