A group of individuals, living temporarily in Warren County found themselves under fire Monday night at Azalea Trace Apartments.
Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said deputies responded to a call of shots fired around 10 p.m. Monday to the apartments, located at 320 Fisher Ferry Road. Once they arrived, they found a victim with a gunshot wound to the side.
Pace said the victim, a 24-year-old man from Washington County, was transported initially to Merit Health River Region and then airlifted to University of Mississippi Medical Center. There is no update on the victim’s condition.
“The victim was reportedly sitting on the couch in the apartment at the time of the shooting,” Pace said. No other details as to the victim’s identification were made available.
Pace added crime scene investigators worked throughout the night and were back at the scene Tuesday morning at sunrise to continue the investigation.
“At this time, we do not have any leads or motive,” Pace said. “We are asking for the community’s help with any information.”
While Pace declined to speculate on whether those in the apartment were the targets of the shooting or if the shooting was random, he did confirm that so far no other bullet holes have been found in other apartments.
