It’s time to think about where to send your giving dollars

As the calendar inches ever closer to the end of the year, the thoughts of many turn to holidays and time with family.
There are those, as each day ticks along toward the end of 2019, who might try to recall the resolutions they made at the beginning and make every effort to accomplish something on the year’s to-do list.
Yet, there are still others who look at the end of the year as an opportunity to help others through contributions. Yes, making donations to non-profits helps with a person’s tax liability, but for non-profit organizations, this is the time when many face mounting demands for assistance.
It is this time of the year when agencies see the majority of their calls for aid from families and individuals struggling with one thing or another, from having enough food to feed their family to dealing with escalating energy costs.
This is also the time of year when many organizations host events, fundraisers and campaigns to meet the demands of the community and position their organization for the coming year.
Right now, the United Way of West Central Mississippi is in the midst of its annual campaign.
From the moment the annual Supper on the ‘Sip kicked off on that beautiful Thursday evening in September, through January, staff and volunteers from the United Way will be calling on individuals, organizations and businesses for their support. By supporting the United Way, those contributions and donations go to supporting 17 organizations throughout the area whose programs are touching lives each day.
As you consider the donations and contributions for the end of the year, and moving forward, think of the United Way. Think of the programs they are supporting and the lives that are changed each day, and made better by the work of the United Way and their partner agencies.
Think of it, too, as a one-stop-shop for your giving dollars.
