PORT GIBSON — Services for Mrs. Dorothy Louise Spruille Christian who died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, at Second Baptist Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Nelson Jr., officiating.
Mrs. Christian was born Jan. 18, 1942, to Louis Earl Montgomery Sr. and Ruth Burton Montgomery in Port Gibson.
Burial will follow at the Second Baptist Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Marshall Funeral Home, and from 1 p.m. to service time Sunday, at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandmother, Phoebe Ward Haley Burton; husbands, Edgar L. Spruille and Carl Lee Christain; two brothers, Louis Earl Montgomery Jr. and Sidney L. Montgomery Sr.
Mrs. Christian is survived by her two loving daughters, Angela Spruille and Twania Spruille; three sons, two of whom she adopted at an early age, ViDal Christian and DiVante Christian, and a dear son reared from birth as her own, Sylvester “Yank” Hewitt; two stepdaughters, Barbara Ann Johnson and Christine (Izza) Anderson; one stepson, Robert (Sandra Faye) Spruille; two sisters, Claudia Wilson and JoAnn (Fred) Reeves; four granddaughters, Jaida Spruille, Fastedra Moore, Joleecia Moore and LaQuida Ratliff; two grandsons, Jarious Dotson and Dominic Ratliff; one great-grandson, Kahriem Patterson; one goddaughter, Mildred (Jay) Everett; two special nieces, Francie Montgomery and Sharon Mackey; two special great-nieces, Essence Montgomery and Renacci Mackey; two nephews, Louis Perry and George Wilson; several special family members, Regina Harris, Carolyn Harris and Kenny Jones; a number of other relatives and friends.
