VPD reports detail assaults, burglary, drug trafficking

On Friday, March 13, at 7:19 p.m. officers responded to the 1100 block of Harrison Street for an assault. Officers found a male with a stab wound to his right side. He was transported to UMMC for treatment. The assault was the result of a domestic dispute where the stabbing victim was a bystander.
Leroy Newton, 68, of 434 Ford Road, was arrested for Aggravated Assault in connection to this incident. His bond was set at $50,000 and he was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury by Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Monday, March 16, 2020.
An arrest has been made for domestic violence as well.
Auto Burglary
On Friday, March 13, at 9:14 a.m. officers responded to the 2800 block of Confederate Avenue for an auto burglary. The victim reported that someone had entered a 2016 Volvo during the night and stolen a purse containing $150. The vehicle had been left unlocked.
Shots Fired
On Friday, March 13, at 5:26 p.m., officers responded to the area of Drummond and Vine Streets in reference to shots being fired in the area. A suspect was identified and taken into custody on warrants.
Aggravated Domestic Violence
On Saturday, March 14, at 1:48 a.m., officers responded to a residence on Old Cain Ridge Road for an assault. A male was found to be suffering from a laceration to his left forearm. He was transported to Merit Health River Region for treatment.
Sarah Elizabeth Morgan, 28, of 3240 Mount Alban Road, Vicksburg, was taken into custody for aggravated assault, domestic violence later that day. Her bond was set at $15,000 and she was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury by Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court on March 16.
Auto Burglary
On Saturday, March 14, at 10:39 a.m., an auto burglary was reported in the 2000 block of Cherry Street. The victim reported someone entered his vehicle and stole a gun and personal property. The vehicle was unlocked.
Burglary of a Storage Unit
On Saturday, March 14, at 11:49 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Johnson Street for a theft. The victim stated someone broke into his storage unit and took a leaf blower, a weed eater, a chain saw, a pressure washer and a generator, among other items.
Aggravated Domestic Violence
On Saturday, March 14, at 7:01 p.m., officers responded to the 2100 block of Iowa Boulevard for a disturbance, where they found a female unconscious. The female was transported to River Region Merit Health for treatment.
Jonathan Meadows, 38, of 4261 Dogwood Lane, Vicksburg, has been arrested for aggravated assault, domestic violence. Meadows’ bond was set at $50,000 and he was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury by Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Monday, March 16, 2020.
Arrest for Possession of Stolen Firearm
On Saturday, March 14, at 10:41 p.m., officers of the Vicksburg Police Department NET Team were investigating suspicious activity at the New Main Apartments, 2727 Alcorn Drive. Kanneado Caples, 18, of 112 Baylee Court, Nashville, Tennessee, was arrested at the scene after he was found to be in possession of a stolen Glock handgun.
Caples’ bond was set at $30,000 and he was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury by Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Monday, March 16, 2020.
Two arrested for Trafficking and Firearms Possession
On Sunday, March 15 at 2:52 a.m., while answering a call for service at the Waffle House, 4100 Pemberton Boulevard, NET Team officers arrested Anthony Woodland, 27, 203 Starlight Drive, Vicksburg, who was found to be in possession of approximately 48 tablets of Ecstasy and over $1,200 cash.
Woodland was charged with one count of Trafficking of a Controlled Substance. Woodland’s bond was set at $60,000 and he was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury by Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Monday, March 16, 2020.
Also arrested was Jonathan Jackson, 32, of 207 Starlight Drive, Vicksburg. Jackson was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Jackson’s bond was set at $50,000 and he was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury by Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Monday, March 16, 2020.
