Frank Gideon Whitaker

Frank Gideon Whitaker died in Vicksburg on April 14, 2020, at the age of 91.
Born in Pheba on June 11, 1928, to Buford Everet and Ora Ophelia Whitaker, Frank was raised in Mayersville with his two siblings and graduated from Rolling Fork High School in 1947.
He attended Delta State University and served in the United States Air Force.
In 1954, he wed Betty Jean Pinkston Whitaker, and they were married until her death in 1988. They had three sons.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; siblings, Buford Whitaker and Sarah Reynolds; his wife, Betty Jean; and his stepson, Mark Scott.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Dallmus Whitaker; his three sons and three step-children along with their spouses, Gid Whitaker of Nashville, Tenn, Dr. Murray and Martha Whitaker of Vicksburg, Doug and Sandy Whitaker of Cartersville, Ga., Lee Ette Scott of Vicksburg; Renae Scott of Missoula, Mont.; Bill Palmer of Southaven, MS; grandchildren, Gideon Whitaker, Jeremy Whitaker, Holly and Matthew Vollor, Ellen Whitaker, Larkin Whitaker, Angie Buckner Carley, Erin Buckner and Devin and Chris Banchero. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
He was a longtime salesman and manager for Office Supply and was later a salesman for George Carr. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Vicksburg and the Church of the Holy Trinity.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 18. A full celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Church of the Holy Trinity.
