Statewide COVID-19 cases spike once again, Warren County’s number grows by one

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Warren County inched higher to 16 Thursday as state health officials announced updated figures.

In their reporting, the Mississippi State Department of Health announced 264 new cases across the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 3,624 in all.

The first death of a Warren County resident due to the COVID-19 virus was reported Wednesday. While that remains the only virus-related death in the county, the number of deaths statewide grew to 129 overall Thursday.

Surrounding Warren County, Madison Parish, La., has two confirmed cases, Claiborne County reports eight confirmed cases, Sharkey has three, and Issaquena County is yet to record its first confirmed case.

In Hinds County, the number of confirmed cases grew to 301, with the four virus-related deaths. Yazoo County’s figures also saw a jump, with the county now reporting 72 confirmed cases and one virus-related death.
