Brian Keith Greer now faces attempted murder charges stemming from reportedly shooting his sister Friday evening in Bovina.
Greer, 40, was arrested Saturday in Yazoo County after avoiding authorities throughout the night.
Monday, Greer appeared in court where he was formally charged with attempted murder and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. During the hearing, Judge Jeff Crevitt denied Greer bond and ordered him held in the Warren County Jail.
He is accused of shooting his sister, Heather Blakely Hearn, 47, at her camper off Tiffintown Road. Pace said a small-caliber handgun was recovered by Yazoo County deputies during the arrest.
“This was an argument between a brother and sister and we are confident we have the shooter in custody,” Pace said Saturday.
Hearn was taken by ambulance to University of Mississippi Medical Center. Information on her condition was unavailable.
Greer was arrested about 11:55 a.m. Saturday by deputies with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office and returned to Warren County Saturday.
Warren County deputies responding to a 5:30 p.m. call Friday about an injured woman in a camper at a campground in the 400 block of Tiffintown Road found Hearn on the floor of her camper with multiple gunshot wounds. Greer was seen leaving the scene in Hearn’s 2006 Pontiac G6.
Pace said Greer was arrested by Yazoo County deputies responding to a call about a suspicious person walking in a cornfield in the southern part of the county.
The deputies took the man into custody after a brief standoff. He was later identified as Greer from a photograph Pace sent to authorities in Yazoo County.
Hearn’s car was later recovered on Ballground Road in Warren County, several miles from where Greer was arrested.
