The Mississippi State Department of Health announced 357 new cases of COVID-19 in the state overnight, but just one of those cases — just one — was reported in Warren County.
The single case reported Monday is the lowest number reported since June 11 and comes on the heels of last week, where more than 100 cases were confirmed locally. With only one case reported, the number of estimated active cases plummeted from 217 Sunday to 167 Monday.
Overall, the state has now reported 31,257 COVID-19 cases and 1,114 deaths since the first case was reported in Mississippi on March 11.
In Claiborne County, the number of cases reported moved to 279, with 10 virus-related deaths. The number of cases in Sharkey County continued to climb, with 38 now reported. Issaquena, which was the last county in the state to report a confirmed case, reported a total of nine cases and one virus-related death Monday.
Louisiana health officials on Monday reported 393 confirmed cases in Madison Parish.
