Mr. Long was born in Scott County on Jan. 15, 1946. Prentice was known as a jokester, even when he felt bad he always had a joke for the nurses when they came. He took care of his family and the saying was even if he was 600 miles away he could fix it even if it was over the phone. Prentice was a generous man and was a great friend to all. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he loved to hear them call him, “Handsome PaPa.” He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman Woodrow Long and Jenny Jeanette Henry Long; and siblings, Robert Earl Long and Faye Sullivan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Vicki Lynn Magee Long of Brandon; children, Melanie East (Kevin) of Louisiana, Tina Lynn Knox (Mark) of North Carolina and Woody Long (Susan) of Brandon; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Tony Long, Grady Long, Ken Hall, Stanley Monk, Brant Long and Jacob Callan.
Memorials may be made in his honor to the Diabetes Foundation or Sta-Home Hospice.
