Warren County has set another record in the number of new COVID-19 cases reported in a single day.
Monday, the Mississippi State Department of Health announced 37 new cases in Warren County. That surpassed the previous one day record of 33 that has been recorded twice during the pandemic, on July 3 and July 16.
The new cases bring the total number of cases reported in Warren County during the pandemic to 727, with 22 virus-related deaths.
The record set at the county level comes on the same day the state set a record for new cases. In Monday’s report, the state reported 1,251 new cases and three deaths. Since the first case in Mississippi was reported on March 11, the state has now reported 43,889 cases and 1,358 deaths.
The ongoing spike in cases has also put tremendous stress on the state’s healthcare infrastructure. Monday, the state reported the number of patients hospitalized with confirmed cases reached a pandemic-high level of 909. Highs were also reached in the number of patients in intensive care units (284) and those on ventilators (143).
