Michael Douglas Gilbert

Michael Douglas Gilbert, 51, of Utica, went into the arms of his heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 28, 2020.
Michael was raised in Utica and loved his home town dearly. Michael was the most loving, patient, and kind person anyone had the privilege to know. He went out of his way to help anyone in need. He was a lively, spirited person and always made people laugh. His joyful attitude and love for life reflected in his big smile and sparkling blue eyes. He was a precious gift to his family and all who knew him. Michael never met a stranger; he always called everyone friend. He leaves behind a family that loved him tremendously and will be missed beyond words could ever express.
Michael is survived by his parents, Ray and Carylon Gilbert of Utica; siblings, Coby Gilbert (Lei) of Utica, Ray Gilbert Jr. (Millie) of West Monroe, La., Sonya Gilbert-McGrain (Thomas) of Raymond, Karen Gilbert of Pearl; nephews and nieces, Austin and Christian Gilbert of Utica, Nealie Hixon of Utica, Thomas McBrain Jr. of Raymond, J.W. and Kelsey Gilbert of West Monroe, La., Stephanie LeNormand of Texas, Rachel McGriff of Florence and Joshua Smith of Xian, China; along with many great-nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 30, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Carpenter Cemetery with Rev. Rocky Henriques officiating.
Pallbearers and loving friends include John Horn, Richard Horn, Kenny Caston, Flash Walker, Thomas McBrain Sr. and Thomas McBrain Jr.
