Graveside funeral services for Gwendolyn Ethel Carter will be Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at 11 a.m. at New Zion Cemetery with the Rev. Joseph Briscoe officiating.

Gwendolyn Ethel Carter passed away Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020, in the Bluffs Nursing Center following a lengthy illness. She was 93. She was retired from Illinois Bell and had been a member of New Zion M.B. Church.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ethel Clark Elmore; her husband, Leonard Carter; her daughter, Beverly Baggett; her brothers, Paul Elmore, Henry Wright and Willard Elmore; her sisters, Bertha Elmore and Georgia Rae Elmore.

She is survived by her two sisters, Mary Elmore and Alma Moore both of Vicksburg; and five grandchildren.
