“Vicksburg Warren 911 notified me shortly after 10 a.m. that the police department was conducting a missing persons investigation and had reason to believe that an individual had jumped into the river from one of the river bridges,” Pace said. “I met with Warren County Bridge Superintendent Herman Smith and was able to secure video footage that confirmed the individual did jump from the eastbound lane of the Interstate 20 bridge.”

Pace said that boats with Ergon Marine did a search of the immediate area, followed by boats from his office that have conducted daylight to dark searches since.

“Thus far, we have searched as far south as Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Station and thus far have not recovered his body,” Pace said, adding crews will be back on the river Saturday continuing their search.

Pace said that during the search, he has worked to keep the Vicksburg Police Department and members of the individual’s families updated.
