Funeral arrangements for Kealen DaRon Andrews, the 6-year-old boy killed in a house fire Tuesday, will be held Monday at the Vicksburg City Auditorium.
CJ Williams Mortuary Services announced the service plans Friday.
The funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday. Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 4, from 6 to 7 p.m. at CJ Williams Mortuary Services.
Andrews, who was a first-grade student at Beechwood Elementary, died in a house fire Tuesday that engulfed his Halls Ferry Road home.
A number of individuals and organizations have rallied to support the family in their loss of a son, and also in their recovery.
Thursday, Vickswood Federal Credit Union announced an account in Kealen’s memory had been set up to allow members of the community to donate money to the family.
In their announcement, the credit union announced that “all donated funds will be deposited into the memorial account in honor of Kealan and his family for any monetary relief.” For more information on the account, call 601-636-4434.
Also, a Gofundme has been set up to help the Andrews family. As of Friday, more than $6,150 had been donated.
Officials with Beechwood Elementary School announced Thursday that, in memory of Kealan, the school will hold a $5 free dress week — meaning students don’t have to wear their school uniforms — beginning Monday. All proceeds will be donated to Kealan’s family.
“The Beechwood family is deeply saddened by the loss of our student,” the school posted on Facebook. “We will miss Kealan’s smile and how he brightened up a room. He was known for always wearing cowboy boots. He was a proud Beechwood Bobcat and he will be missed dearly by his teachers, classmates and school staff. We ask for your thoughts and prayers for his family as they navigate this most difficult time.”
