Ellene Ezell Barnes, 95, went to her heavenly home surrounded by her family on Oct. 3, 2020.

Ellene Barnes was a picture of a loving wife, mother and Christian woman.

Ellene’s strong support of her husband enabled him to do all he did. They truly served well as a team. Carl and Ellene touched countless lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Carl S. Barnes; and her son, Steve Barnes.

Those left to cherish her memories are daughter, Sherry Barnes Mahaffey (Don) of Mendenhall; son, Mark Barnes (Susan) of El Dorado, Ark.; grandchildren who lovingly called her “Meme,” Leslie Stephens (Jimmy), Courtney Owens (Chuck), Natasha Brooks (Donny), Carla Boutwell, Amanda Malone (Shane) and Matt Barnes ( Nikki); 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren, “We are what we are because of her.”

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

A funeral will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home at 11 a.m., with Rev. Larry Hudson officiating.

Interment will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Trace Shoup, Anthony Hughes, Matt Barnes, Trace Owens, Turner Owens and Ricky Atkinson
