An altercation late Tuesday night at LD’s Bar and Lounge in downtown Vicksburg left three individuals with gunshot wounds, with one in critical condition.

According to the Vicksburg Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Mulberry business at 11 p.m. for reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they found one victim that had been shot twice in the abdomen. Emergency medical officials responding immediately asked for a helicopter be dispatched to Merit Health River Region.

As medical officials were preparing to transport the critically wounded individual, a security guard working at the restaurant came to them saying he had been shot in the leg. According to police officials, at about that time, officers were notified that a third victim had arrived by personal vehicle with a gunshot wound in an undisclosed location.

Police officials said there has been no suspect announced, but a “person of interest” has been identified.

Reports indicate that all of the shots were fired outside of the business.

Mayor George Flaggs Jr. announced Wednesday morning that he has ordered the establishment shut down and is exploring “the future of LD’s Bar and Lounge.” He has also announced a Thursday press conference to discuss future action that the city may take.

“As of now, LD’s Bar and Lounge will remain shut down,” Flaggs said. “During the Thursday morning news conference, I will discuss how I intend to address the future of LD’s Bar and Lounge.”

The press conference will be Thursday at 10 a.m. and will be broadcast live on The Vicksburg Post’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/thevicksburgpost. In addition to the situation with LD’s, Flaggs is also set to discuss the city’s preparations ahead of Hurricane Delta.
