A celebration of life for Jerry Xavier Hampton has been scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020, at the Vicksburg City Auditorium at 2 p.m. Jerry will lie in repose at the auditorium from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. There will be a private visitation on Friday, Oct. 9, 2020, and a public visitation on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at C J Williams Mortuary. Services are from 1 to 6 p.m.

Jerry had a major love for God and he loved to hear his uncle Bishop John Henry Sheard, the presiding Prelate of Michigan Southwest First Jurisdiction of the Church of God In Christ, preach the Gospel.

Jerry grew up in the Mississippi Delta where the rich traditional gospel and blues heritage was formed and that inspired him to become a powerful gospel singer. Some of Jerry’s highlights were being able to see his little cousin Kierra Sheard grow up to become a world-renown gospel recording artist and to see his son become a musical artist.
