MHP Trooper injured in one-car crash on U.S. 61 South

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a one-car wreck Saturday morning on U.S. 61 South near Yokena in which an MHP trooper was injured.

The trooper received moderate injuries in the 10 a.m. crash and was taken by Vicksburg Fire Department ambulance to the Vicksburg Municipal Airport. From there, he was flown by PHI Helicopter to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time, an MHP spokesman said. Information on the trooper’s condition was unavailable.

Besides Vicksburg rescue and ambulance, Warren County sheriff’s deputies, Vicksburg police and LeTourneau and Warren County Fire Coordinator Jerry Briggs responded to the wreck.
