Porter's Chapel Academy's Yakia Burns is the 2021 Vicksburg Post girls basketball Player of the Year. Burns averaged 33.7 points, 10.2 rebounds, 5.7 steals and 2.7 assists per game. She is the first Porter's Chapel Academy player to win the award since 2001. (Tim Reeves/The Vicksburg Post)

Good scorer and defender was PCA’s second-leading scorer at 11.2 points per game, and also had 2.3 steals per game

Excellent guard scored 10.7 points per game for the Lady Eagles

Lady Vikes’ point guard was also their leading scorer at 12 points per game ... averaged 5 assists and 3 steals per game as well

The 2020 Vicksburg Post Player of the Year had another outstanding season, averaging 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 4.0 steals per game
Zy Segrest
Warren Central, Jr.
A big presence in the post for the Lady Vikes, she averaged 9 points and 12 rebounds per game
Kendyl Rice
St. Aloysius, Jr.
Led the Lady Flashes in scoring, with 9.4 points per game ... also averaged 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists
Sophie Masterson
Porter’s Chapel, 8th
Helped Lady Eagles to their best season in 16 years by averaging 7.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game
Sha’Kora Knight
Vicksburg, Sr.
Missy Gators’ only senior starter was a team leader and averaged 6.3 points, 2.0 assists and 2.1 steals per game

Good outside shooter averaged 10.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game ... also had 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game
Taylor Chewning
St. Aloysius, Jr.
Two-time all-county selection averaged 8.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game ... also dished out 2.5 assists per game
Layla Carter
Vicksburg, So.
First-year starter became a star, leading the Missy Gators in scoring at 15.3 points per game ... also averaged 8.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.5 steals

Tim Reeves, and his wife Stephanie, are the parents of three children, Sarah Cameron, Clayton and Fin, who all attend school in the Vicksburg Warren School District. The family are members of First Baptist Church Vicksburg.
