Some good defense and an opportunistic goal helped Vicksburg High’s boys’ soccer team earn a 1-1 tie against Adams County Christian School on Tuesday.

Dacion Brown scored off an assist from Braylon Green and keeper Xavier Williams made 10 saves for the Gators.

ACCS led 1-0 at halftime, after scoring late in the first half, and then in the 53rd minute Green dribbled through the Rebels’ defense to create a scoring opportunity. He was cut off by the keeper on the right side of the goal, but was able to cross it back to Brown who tapped it into a wide open net for the equalizer.

The Gators (1-3-1) ended a three-game winless streak as they head into the Thanksgiving break. They’ll return to the pitch on Nov. 28 with a road trip to Cleveland Central.

“They are really playing hard and playing as a team. I’m very proud of them,” VHS coach Maurice Gilliam said.
