Commander Williams James Dooley Jr. (Jim) passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on Nov. 18, 2023. He passed in his home with his wife, Linda, at his side.

Jim was born and raised in California. His career took him to various locations across the country and around the world.

Jim and Linda chose to retire in Vicksburg because of their love of the people and community. He was a career Navy officer and retired with the rank of commander. He flew A-6 Intruders throughout his career including tours in Vietnam.

Following his successful Navy career he taught in Jr. ROTC programs where he continued to serve the country by teaching and mentoring high school students.

Jim is survived by the love of his life and wife of 35 years, Linda D. Lawrence-Dooley, his son William J. Dooley III; his son Cameron Lawrence and daughter-in-law Kristi Lawrence; daughter Laura Concannon and son-in-law Robert Concannon; and daughter Kimberly Lawrence. He was the proud Papa of Keegan James Concannon and grandfather of William J. Dooley IV.

Jim was preceded in death by his son Michael Lawrence.

The date of the memorial service will be determined at a later time.
