1338 Chambers St. (Saturday, Dec. 9)
The W.B. Levy family is believed to have moved into their new home in 1908. The beautiful home initially was to be brick veneer, but the exterior was completed with cast concrete stone quoins. By 1921, after W.B. Levy had died and his wife, Flora, had moved, the house was occupied by William and Ella Morgan for about 15 years; it was occupied from 1959 to the 1990s by Circuit Judge Benjamin and Mary Guider and their family.
2501 Cherry St. (Sunday, Dec. 10)
This elegant Italian Renaissance Revival residence was completed in April 1917 for Robert and Rosalye Wilkerson. The home in the “Foster” area was built of “terra cotta with black Spanish-style roofing,” according to H.H. Havis, the architect interviewed by The Vicksburg Herald. The winning bid to build the home at South Cherry and Dewitt streets was $13,323.
