Mariam Doney returned after visiting Martina Crowd in Meridian. • William Finke and Mildred Deauva secured a marriage license. • Louis McElroy and Lucille Willis were married.

Police Chief W.L. Tucker reported that 1,405 arrests were made here during 1933. • B.V Miller killed a wildcat near Oak Ridge. • Mrs. Fannie Gusdofer was visiting relatives in Montgomery. • Mrs. W.F. Trese returned to her home in Superior, Wisconsin.
80 Years Ago: 1944
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cosby and children returned from Oklahoma City, where they had visited relatives and friends. Corp. and Mrs. Oswald Biedenharn were here from Kansas. • Corp. Henry Garland Jr. returned to camp after a visit with his parents.

Mr. and Mrs. Warren Asher were visiting in New Orleans. • Lt. and Mrs. Don O’Brien of El Paso, Tx were guests of Mrs C.E. Melvill. • Services were held for Mrs. Sally Alford, a Clinton resident.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Penley were visiting in Memphis. • Mr. and Mrs. William Thornton announced the birth of a son, William Jr. • Howard Thomas died.

Hallye Jo Ragsdale starred as Mrs. Adams in “Forty Carats” at Bowmar Avenue Playhouse. • Mary Calvert Brown graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. • Joseph McKinley of Vicksburg and Clarence Whitaker of Redwood were named to the Dean’s List at Belhaven College.

Mrs. Sue O’Conner Graham died at the age of 90. • Glynnis Darlene Sones was 3. • Deacons had monthly prayer services at Trinity Baptist Church.

Ameristar, the city’s third casino, was pulled into its permanent cofferdam below Delta Point restaurant. • Daisy Griffen, 102, died in Rolling Fork.

Work was being done to convert the Levee Street Depot into a museum. • No replacement had been announced for former Vicksburg Military Park superintendent Bill Nichols.

City honored Rhodes Scholar, Field Brown. • Troy Kimble was chosen as Constable. • Vicksburg High School boys basketball hosted Callaway in a gigantic showdown.
