Services were held for Samuel Patterson, of Port Gibson. • Charles White, a Utica resident, died in a fall i.n Vicksburg • Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Reaves announced the birth of a daughter, Anne.

60 Years Ago: 1964
Mrs. A. L. Bass died. • Mrs. Joseph Ring was a patient at the Vicksburg Hospital. • Dr. and Mrs. W.J. Schultos, of Port Gibson, announced the birth of a son, Laurence.

50 Years Ago: 1974
Miss Marie Crichlow, a lifelong resident of Vicksburg, died. • Mr and Mrs. Dennis Bean announced the birth of a son, Dennis Lee Jr. • Marine Cpl. Robert L. Roberts reported to duty at the Marine Corps Supply Center in Albany, Ga.

40 Years Ago: 1984
The Rev. Noel Prendergast and parishioner Jean Beckett prepared for the 1984 World Day of Prayer at St. Michael Catholic Church. • Catherine Maxie Branan was two today. A big drug bust, that was under investigation for six months, yielded 17 arrests, with more to come.

Vicksburg businessman and civic leader, James Emerson Blackburn Sr., died. • Rufus J. Hendon celebrated his second birthday.

Army-Navy Club had a steak dinner meeting. • A Warren County man was accused of car theft.

10 Years Ago: 2014
Ameristar celebrated its 20th anniversary in Vicksburg. • Vicksburg became home to “D-Hoops,” a combination of Basketball, Disc Golf and Ultimate Frisbee. Mardi Gras Parade and Gumbo competition drew thousands to downtown Vicksburg.
