Lady Schrader of Rolling Fork was visiting Mrs. F.N. Penley. • Mrs Ida Ester died. • Harris Dickson addressed the Delphian Chapter.

W.E. Cross, former photographer in Vicksburg, died in St. Augustine, Fla. • R. Hartigan Smarr suffered a severe heart attack. • Leila Luckett was ill at her home on Crawford St.
80 Years Ago: 1944
The Rev. O.S. Lewis, Methodist district superintendent, spoke at All Saints College Chapel services. • Principals of four county schools were reelected as follows: H.G. Street, Culkin Academy; Clara Stephens, Jeff Davis; Virgil O’Neil, Jett; and Noel Nutt, Oak Ridge.
70 Years Ago: 1954
Maurice Seay was elected to the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce. • Francis Carlisle, a member of the nursing staff at the Warren County Health Department, was a patient at Mercy Hospital. • Services were held for N.M. Kahn. • Laurin Fields was home for the week from Ole Miss.

Mrs. J.E. Neill was elected president of the Tallulah Book Club. • Father and Mrs. Michael Baroudy observed their 50th anniversary. • Mr. and Mrs. Edward C. Lanier announced the birth of a daughter, Connie. • Sherman Thomas died.

Debbie Anderson, Perry Dornbusch and Helen Dornbusch, Warren Central Band members were selected for the Lions All-State Band. • Mayor Nat Bullard proclaimed Gator Day to honor the state’s No.1 high school football team. • Mrs. Louise Larson was a patient at Mercy Regional Medical Center.

Sid Ervin and his sunglass and hat-wearing dog, “Dog” were pictured on the front page of the Vicksburg Evening Post. • Ruth Birdsong Armstrong died. • The home of George Gaskin was destroyed by fire. • Items missing from the Old Court House Museum were recovered.
