Funeral services celebrating Eugene Johnson Sr.’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Public visitation will be held Friday, March 15, from 1 until 6 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Johnson passed away Thursday, March 7,  at Merit Health River Region. He was 86.

He and his wife Ollie owned and operated Johnson’s Washeteria in the Kings Community for the past 51 years.

He was employed by the Vicksburg-Warren School District as a school bus driver for many years.

Johnson was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers. He was the eldest of eight boys.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ollie M. Bland Johnson of Vicksburg; his son, Eugene (Francis) Johnson Jr. of Brandon; his daughter, Antoinette Johnson Pratt of Vicksburg; one grandson, Artines “Paul” Pratt Jr. of Vicksburg; one brother, Leon “Clarence” (Pam) Murphy; a niece, Annie Francis Murphy, all of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and descendants of the Bland, Johnson, Carson, Murphy, and Blue families, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors: Joe and Barbara Ross and other relatives and friends.
