Benjamin Hullum died. • Lloyd Lewis, a famous Chicago biographer, was visiting Vicksburg. • Edwin Barfield and Gladys Grant were married.

James N. Palermo, wounded in Italy, returned to the U.S. • William L. Tennant, with the U.S. Navy, was here visiting his parents. • Sgt. Charles D. Giglio had arrived safely overseas. • Pvt. Mel Faulk was assigned to Turner Air Field at Albany, Ga.
70 Years Ago: 1954
Dr. W.K. Purks spoke to members of the Kiwanis Club. • Shirley Hill and Catherine Finnegan returned from a visit to St. Louis. • A. J. Brunini spoke to the National Association of Cost Accountants in Jackson. • Shelia Lawler was home from the Mississippi State College For Women for the weekend.
