Margaret Frances Salmon Bucci

Margaret Frances Salmon Bucci, 100, died peacefully Thursday, March 21, at St. Catherine’s Village – Siena Center in Madison.
Margaret was born on July 14, 1923, in Vicksburg to Mary Elizabeth (Schaffer) Salmon and James M. Salmon. She attended St. Francis Xavier Academy and was valedictorian of the class of 1941.
Shortly after graduation, Margaret was hired as a secretary for Illinois Central Railroad, where she worked until her retirement in 1983.
Margaret always treasured her long and rewarding career and loved to reminisce about her railroad days.
In 1949, Margaret married Vicksburg native Don Bucci Sr., and they were happily married for 61 years. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and later, St. Michael Catholic Church. For many years she served in the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality and volunteered at Mercy Hospital.
Margaret grew up with many brothers and sisters who remained close throughout their lives. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Buddy Salmon, Annie Mae Mahoney, Pat Middleton, Barbara Cesare, Bettie Rooks, Rita Evans, Mike Riddle, Albert Riddle, Donnie Riddle, and Billy Riddle.
She is survived by sons, Don Bucci Jr. (Irene) of Harrison, Tenn., and Phillip Bucci of Vicksburg; daughters,Carolyn Lindigrin and Chris Bucci of Vicksburg and Margaret Bucci of Jackson; grandson, John Lindigrin Jr. of Vicksburg; granddaughters, Veronica Bucci and Andrea Bass (Dustin) of Chattanooga; and many dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday, March 26, at St. Michael Catholic Church followed by a burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Greg Evans, Kevin Mahoney, Bobby Middleton, Dunaway Rooks, Joe Rooks, and Terry Winschel.
Memorial gifts may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church and Vicksburg Catholic School.
