Herbert Rawlinson was seen in “His Mystery Girl,” at the Alamo Theatre. • A committee of citizens waited on the supervisors to ask cancellation of the lease on the county convict farm.

The Holy Trinity Church choir presented, “Seven Last Words of Christ.” • Robert Hall left for Mansfield La.to spend Easter with his daughter.
80 Years Ago: 1944
Mrs. U.G. Flowers was elected president of the Women’s Auxiliary at First Presbyterian Church. • Sgt. Norman Henry was here visiting his mother. • Mr. and Mrs. John Hude Jr. announced the birth of their son, George. • Services were held for Sartaria resident, William Childress.
70 Years Ago: 1954
Robert Luckett retired after 27 years of service with the Vicksburg District, Corps of Engineers. • Services were held for Dinah Ford. • Jerry Campbell was ill at his home on Baum Street.
60 Years Ago: 1964
Jim Angelo was initiated into Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Southern Miss. • Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Emmerich Jr. announced the birth of their son, Maurice Brian. • Frank Russell died.

Services were held for Joseph DiRago, a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. • Bessie Mason died. •
Sheriff Paul Barrett announced he will begin cracking down on people with illegal tags or no tags on their vehicles.

David McDonald, Dr. Robert Abraham and Edward “Buddy” McDonald prepped for the Y Men’s Club pancake sale. • Mr. and Mrs. Edley Hicks Jones III announced the birth of their daughter, Elizabeth Ware. • Amanda Lynn Smith celebrated her fourth birthday.

Vicksburg’s thin-clad Cheryl Griffith won the eighth-grade, 3200-meter run at the Warren Central Junior Viking Relays.

A man who robbed Trustmark Bank on Mission 66 was arrested while trying to hide behind a parked school bus.
