Bad weather forces more changes to Warren County’s high school sports schedule

For the second day in a row, bad weather has fouled Warren County’s high school sports schedule.
Baseball and softball games, as well as a district tennis tournament, were all postponed Tuesday as a prolonged period of rainy, stormy weather settled in over Mississippi.
Vicksburg High’s home baseball game vs. Neshoba Central, and a softball game at Ridgeland that were scheduled for Tuesday evening were both postponed. So were Warren Central’s baseball game at Ridgeland and its softball game at Wesson.
No make-up dates were announced for any of the postponed games.
St. Aloysius baseball coach Jay Harper said his team still planned to play Cathedral but the game has been relocated from Bazinsky Field to Sports Force Parks. Harper said the varsity game will also be moved up to 4 p.m.
Porter’s Chapel Academy postponed its baseball game at Prairie View Academy and rescheduled it for April 18. The teams will play a doubleheader in Vicksburg Friday beginning at 3 p.m.
Two district tennis tournaments at Halls Ferry Park were postponed Monday, and have been rescheduled. St. Al will host the MAIS District 4-5A tournament Thursday at 9 a.m., while Warren Central and Vicksburg will play in the MHSAA Region 2-6A tournament Friday at 9 p.m.
Porter’s Chapel Academy will host the MAIS District 4-3A tennis tournament at Halls Ferry Park on April 17.
Rain showers moved across Central Mississippi Tuesday morning, but the heaviest rain and thunderstorms are not forecast to move in until the evening. The bad weather will continue through Wednesday, with severe storms expected.
