Ida Linnie Porter died. • Mayor J.J. Hayes was on the sick list. • Mr. and Mrs. John Hennessey were visiting their son in South Bend, Ind.

Brig. Gen. J.H. Reeves and Col. H.R. Richmond were in Vicksburg. • Theo Ernwine and Alice Pace were married. • Nettie Hunt was ill at the Infirmary. • George Schaff was elected president of the Hill City Fishing Club.

Mrs. W.D. Hunt died. • Howard Simrall was a patient at Mercy Hospital. • Mr. and Mrs. T.G. Duncan received a visit from Mrs Eleanor Shannon of Lexington, Va.

Dr. and Mrs. Thurston Whitaker were visiting Houston. • Aline Marie Harris, of Yokena, died. • Horace Sheffield, a former Warren County resident, died in Baton Rouge.

Keith Ford, a Warren Central High School senior, was awarded an academic honor scholarship to Belhaven. • Services were held for George W. Rozier. • Mrs. C.W. Breithaupt had, as house guests, Mrs. R.G. Gillespie, Mrs. Vera Elcano, and Staff Sgt. Gordon Gillespie. • Mrs. Joe Stone was the speaker for the Daughters of the American Revolution. • Mr. and Mrs. Richard Banks had a visit from their daughter, Sissy.

William W. “Billy” Brewer died. • Krystal Lane Lofton celebrated her first birthday. • Mr. and Mrs. David A. Downey announced the birth of their son, Christopher Neal.

Jim C. Moore, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for Jackson Public Schools, was hired as the new deputy superintendent of the Vicksburg Warren School District.
20 Years Ago: 2004
A special allocation of $63,000 to enhance and beautify the north entrance into Vicksburg was okayed by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
10 Years Ago: 2014
The Monte Carlo building was up for the National Register of Historic Places. • There was a tough loss for Warren Central softball when they lost to Clinton on its way to the division crown.
